Cote d’Ivoire Market Watch | May 26th 2015: BRVM index up but BRVM10 index down
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) main indices closed the trading session this Tuesday, lower than the previous day for BRVM 10, and higher for BRVM Composite. BRVM 10 index decreased from 273.71 to 273.41 points, a drop of 0.11 percent. BRVM Composite index gained 0.18 percent to 266.38 against 265.91 points previously. The equity market capitalization was recorded at XOF 6,573.13 billion.
Looking at the market activity, the total volume traded was recorded at 1,098,954 and total traded value was recorded at XOF 1,802.164 million exchanging hands in 23 securities out of 39 listed securities via 181 transactions. Today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION Togo with 1,063,321 traded shares and by value was SOCIETE GENERALE BANK COTE D’IVOIRE with a XOF 673.342 million traded value.
From the market price movers’ angle, out of the 23 traded securities there were 9 price gainers, 8 price losers and 6 remained unchanged. The top gainers were TOTAL COTE D’IVOIRE (appreciated by 7.5 percent to close at XOF 244,385), BERNABE COTE D’IVOIRE (gained 7.50 percent to close at XOF 95,915), SOCIETE GENERALE BANK COTE D’IVOIRE (advanced by 5.15 percent to close at XOF 102,000), BANK OF AFRICA COTE D’IVOIRE (surged by 3.26 percent to close at XOF 95,000) and SERVAIR ABIDJAN COTE D’IVOIRE (rose by 1.84 percent to close at XOF 55,500). On the other hand, topping the losers’ were ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION TOGO declined by 1.75 percent to trade at XOF 56 and AIR LIQUIDE COTE D’IVOIRE fell by 0.57 percent to close at XOF 22,500. Also, SONATEL SENEGAL and SODE COTE D’IVOIRE plummeted by 0.30 percent and 0.14 percent to close at XOF 23,600 and XOF 68,900 respectively.
From sector viewpoint, Distribution sector index went up by 2.65 percent and financial services sector index advanced by 0.12 percent. But industry sector index down by 0.01 percent to end at 158.44 points and public utilities sector index declined by 0.14 percent and agriculture sector index plummeted by 0.02 percent. At the same time, transportation sector index and miscellaneous sector index remained unchanged.
